About Eosinophilic Esophagitis

This video is about eosinophilic esophagitis and living with eosinophilic esophagitis.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (eosinophilic oesophagitis), also known as allergic oesophagitis, is an allergic inflammatory condition of the esophagus that involves eosinophiles, a type of white blood cell. Symptoms are swallowing difficulty, food impaction, and heartburn.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) was first described in children but occurs in adults as well. The condition is not well understood, but food allergy may play a significant role.

  1. Thanks for the share! I'm in the same boat as you, chicken, rice and fruit diet. I've recently been making a budesonide/splenda mix which coats the esophagus 30 minutes before eating. It's a huge hassle to say the least but hopefully a step in the right direction.

  2. Hi Mike, thanks for reaching out and commenting. What was the throat stretch like? It is scary enough when you don't know whats going to trigger it. I literally eat rice, chicken, fruit and veg. Anything else triggers it and it's just not worth it for me. Did your doc put you on any medication? I remember the discomfort it used to cause, it renders you useless. What foods can't you eat?… I can't seem to reply to your comment :(

  3. Thanks for the share on this!  I am across the big big pond, and was recently diagnosed.  I JUST had my throat stretched, and the Doc told me I have allergy cells in my throat which is  Eosinophilic Esophagitis.  I am always reluctant to eat, I'm always like ' I'm going to b that dood that chokes and dies on a piece of pork'. Sounds funny, but it's a legit fear.
